Katie Farrell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a passion for supporting children and families through strengths-based, trauma-informed care. She earned her undergraduate degree from Kutztown University, where she studied Sociology to better understand the connection between human behavior and social systems. She received her Master of Social Work from Keuka College, with an emphasis on trauma-informed care and a focus on resilience in children and families.
Early in her career, Katie supported youth and families across a variety of settings such as schools, independent living centers, and social services. More recently, she has developed her clinical skills and experience through work in community mental health and school-based day treatment programs. She believes every child and family has their own unique stories, strengths, and challenges, and she is guided by the belief that everyone deserves to be heard and accepted without judgment—a core idea from Carl Rogers’ person-centered approach. Creating a safe space where children and families can feel understood and respected is her goal.
Katie’s clinical approach incorporates evidence-based methods including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness techniques, and she is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
She is excited to join Life Stages Counseling and looks forward to expanding options for children and families in the community through compassionate, tailored therapeutic services.
