Jessica Massaro

Jessica received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY and her Master's Degree in Social Work from Boston University with a specialization and certificate in Family Therapy and Couples Counseling. She has lived and worked in Tompkins County since 2008, working for Tompkins County Mental Health for 10 years as a therapist and intake evaluation specialist, Cornell University/ Cornell Health's Primary Care & Sports Medicine Department for 4 years as a Behavioral Health Consultant, and now for Cayuga Medical Associates & Family Medicine Associates as a Behavioral Health Consultant in addition to her private hours with Life Stages Counseling which she has been providing since 2016. Jessica has significant experience in providing couples counseling, family therapy, providing sex therapy/ behavioral interventions and therapeutic interventions for sexual difficulties which may interfere with the ability to achieve or maintain pleasure, sleep disturbances which may best be treated with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, and in working with high school, collegiate or elite athletes or performers working to achieve their goals around the area of sport psychology which may include performance anxiety, resiliency training and overall mental health issues that may arise. Jessica believes in a strength based, person-centered perspective and that a shift of focus from problem talk to solutions talk oftentimes makes all the difference in the world. Jessica typically utilizes Motivational Interviewing, Solutions Focused Brief Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and works most comfortably with ages 15 through geriatric.

Jessica is a member of the Sexual Medicine Society of North America (SMSNA), The International Society for Sexual Medicine (ISSM) and the Alliance of Social Workers in Sports (ASWIS).
